This year was my first time at the Glamour Beauty Festival. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect but I knew that there would be plenty of big name brands and an opportunity to watch a talk with professionals in the beauty world. My friend and I decided to attend the Saturday afternoon session. This meant we had from 2.30-6.30 to explore, as well as a talk with Kat Von D makeup artists. We had already pre-booked the talk in advance at no extra charge! When we arrived at the venue to join the queue, it was very clearly explained in the brochure where all of the different stations would be and what we could expect inside. To say we were excited is an understatement!
How I would describe the event is almost like a beauty theme park. There are different stations over 3 floors of the venue, with stands of makeup artists, beauticians and hairdressers from brands such as Laura Mercier, Kat Von D, GHD, Elizabeth Arden, Caudalie and NARS (just to name a few!) You then need to queue for each station to be sat with a member of staff and receive a demonstration or explanation about the brand products, all included in the price of entry. You were never obliged to buy anything!
We decided after looking at the brochure that our tactic would be to work from the top floor down. We started at the nail station and had our nails painted with ORLY nail varnish. The beauticians were quick but careful with their manicures and I was extremely pleased with the colour and application.
I will say that the queues throughout the day were long. The longest that we queued was about 20/25 minutes, so you do need to be prepared to wait. However, mostly all of the staff that we spoke to on various counters were really knowledgeable and friendly even though they must have seen so many people throughout the day!
After trying out out a few of the other stations, I decided to go to the Schwarzkopf station as they were using their spray in colours. I really wanted to see how I would look with pink ombre hair! Due to the queue I did miss the Kat Von D beauty talk, although my friend went and said it was very informative and interesting to see different make up looks demonstrated live. I was pleased with my hair, however I may plan my time a little better next year!!
Of course, the best part of the day was receiving the goodie bag that included a product from each brand at the event, worth over £180! My favourites are definitely the NARS Powermatte lip pigment, Laura Mercier foundation primer and Kat Von D tattoo eyeliner. The inclusion of these higher end products in a goodie bag is a great way to try out these brands on a budget!
As well as this amazing goodie bag, you could also go to the Latest in Beauty counter to receive 5 free sample size products from their ‘wall of beauty.’ Here are my picks below with a few extra perfume samples thrown in!
Overall we absolutely loved the day and really felt as if it was great value for money. Although a lot of the products we received were not necessarily bargain products, I think for the price of £36 for the ticket (we bought an early bird ticket through the Glamour Beauty Club), we had some really informative demonstrations as well as loads of amazing new products to try. I would definitely recommend this event, especially for any beauty lovers on a budget looking to try out high-end products!
What do you think, will you be attending next year? Which products would you like to try?
