If you haven’t read part one of this review yet, click here to read this first and find out some of my first impressions of the products. So without further adue, on to part two of trying Primark beauty products.
As I indicated in part one, I love Primark’s Disney range. It looks like they are extending this to their beauty range, so I could not resist picking up their Beauty and the Beast Rose Brush for £4. As I had expected, the brush is really pretty but isn’t the most practical for applying makeup! I tried applying foundation with the brush, but the bristles were quite hard and didn’t blend the makeup very well. It especially can’t get into any nooks and crannies! The brush is pretty though and may be a bit better at applying a product like powder. I think this is more of a ‘look pretty on your dressing table’ kind of product, of which it definitely fulfils this role!
Secondly, after hearing great things about Primark’s new Long Wear Foundation that is supposed to be a dupe for Estée Lauder ‘Double Wear’, I had been trying to get my hands on it, but it hasn’t arrived in stores near me yet, boo! I still wanted to try out one of their foundations however, so I picked up Primark’s ‘My Perfect Colour Matte Foundation’ in Nude.
Straight away I could see that the colour was not a match for my skin! I did like the pump bottle, but the consistency was very thin and did not cover any blemishes. Light coverage is not really for me! The foundation also started to oxidize on my skin pretty quickly, making me look even more orange! I don’t think this is going to be a new favourite, but maybe if I had picked the correct colour it would be better. I will keep an eye out for their long wear foundation however to see if that is any better!
Lastly, I tried Primark’s ‘Get Lippy’ Matte Liquid Lipstick in ‘Girl’s World‘ which has both a liquid lipstick and lip liner in one. I am huge fan of liquid lipsticks, although I am yet to find the perfect formula! Let me know your suggestions! The first thing that I noticed about this product on application was that it was a completely different colour than in the tube! I’m still not too sure if I can pull off this colour!! The lipstick is pigmented, especially for £3 I wasn’t expecting too much! I found that the product could be a little patchy in places, but compared to other liquid lipsticks that I have tried in a dark colour, (dark colours are notorious for being patchy!), I was pretty impressed with how the colour turned out. It does dry quickly so you need to be quite quick during application. I mostly liked the feeling of the product on my lips as it did not crumble off throughout the day. Most importantly it didn’t leave a stain on my lips when removing! It did fade in the middle when eating/drinking and re-application was not as smooth as first application, but for only £3 for the lipstick and liner, I definitely want to try out more colours! Just be wary that the colour may not match the colour in the tube.
So there we have it, my full review of just some of Primark’s beauty products. I think the range is a bit like their clothes, you may need to hunt for the really special products, but when you do, they look like they could be from a more expensive brand. I think my overall favourites and recommendations are the Velvet Matte Lip Crayons and Double Dimension Highlighter. I may also be inclined to try out some different products in the range like their eyeshadows. What do you think, will you be purchasing any of these products? Have you got a favourite product that I haven’t tried? Let me know!
