I am a massive advocate for shopping at local and independent small businesses. They are often so innovative with their ideas and create products that you do not see on the high street. I love sharing my finds with friends and family, so here are some of my favourite new discoveries if you are looking to support some smaller businesses this Christmas.
Disclaimer: *Although products marked with an asterix have been gifted, I would only ever recommend companies that I truly enjoy and love their products.
Wild Olive Ltd
I met some of the lovely ladies from Wild Olive Ltd at the Prezzybox ‘Jingle Mingle’ event that I was lucky enough to attend recently. You can read a bit more about the company and the event by clicking here.
Wild Olive Ltd make some really lovely gifts, for example their cocktail bath melt set for £9.99 that you can find on Prezzybox. Most importantly, their products are not tested on animals, don’t contain any nasty chemicals but still smell amazing! I would highly recommend checking out their range.
See below for a picture of one of their shower smoothies in ‘Clementine and Prosecco’* which was gifted to me at the Prezzybox event. It smells gorgeous and also lasts on your skin after use!
Made by Charlotte, a great idea for anyone who you would like to send a gift to directly as they all fit through the letterbox! Charlotte is really passionate about her company and ensures that there is a great range of products in her gift sets. She is also just really lovely and I can’t thank her enough for always supporting me . Just to show how lovely she is, she has even provided a code for you to get 10% off this Christmas by using the code BBH1 on letterboxluxuries.co.uk. (Note: I don’t receive any payment if you use this code, it is all for you guys to get a good deal!)
Over on ‘And So to Shop‘ (which is also a great website for finding independent brands) Letterbox Luxuries are also selling a ‘Curate Your Own Letterbox Gift Set‘ with a starting price of £4 per box. You can build up the box to be as expensive or as affordable as you like, have it all packaged up and sent to your recipient! A great idea if you are looking for an alternative to building a hamper.
I discovered this business on a recent trip to Cornwall and I just had to share it with everyone as it’s such a different idea to anything I have seen before. Kenny, who I spoke to at the Happy Baker’s Box explained that each kit gives you ingredients and instructions to bake cakes, brownies, cookies and more! Although I don’t have any children myself which the box is primarily aimed at, the kits are also foolproof for any adults who want to have a go too! I think they make a great present for children and families starting from only £4 for their mug cake kits. I had to try it out for myself and I can declare that they are super easy to make and tasty too!
I recently reached out to Pick ‘n’ Melt candles when they were looking for bloggers to try their new soy wax candles and boy am I glad that I found this business! Pick ‘n’ Melt has a huge range of wax melts, candles and more with over 350 scents, the dream!
Gifts range from £12 for 12 wax melts to £17 for 9 small candles, of which you can choose from their massive range of scents to make your perfect gift. It is a candle and bargain lovers heaven! They also have a monthly subscription that starts at only £8 a month in which you receive 12 wax melts every single month!
I was very kindly gifted a box of candles* to try out for myself from Pick ‘n’ Melt. I was given a range of different scents from ‘Thai Lime & Mango’ to ‘Black Opium’ which I think is my favourite of the four! All of the candles are really strongly scented and the packaging is also high quality which I did not necessarily expect for a more affordable price.A lot of high street candles in my opinion tend to be overpriced, therefore I think that these candles are such a great alternative for a much better price and you are supporting a small business!
I hope you enjoyed reading about some of my favourite small businesses for Christmas gifts this year and that you found some products you may have never seen before! All of the companies I have included in this guide I selected as although they are smaller, they are really passionate and friendly whilst still producing high quality products. I really hope you can support them as it is so worthwhile.
Supporting smaller businesses is definitely something I will continue to do and share with you as I discover them if you would be interested? Let me know in the comments!
