*Since this post, there have been some questions about Fenty Beauty’s cruelty free status.
When I heard that Fenty Beauty, the makeup line designed by Rihanna was coming to Boots UK, I knew I had to get my hands on some of the products. I had heard a lot of hype about Fenty on social media, especially over the highlighters!
When looking on the Boots website, the products are definitely a lot pricier and more high end than I would usually review on my blog. For example, a full size highlighter is £28, much more than I would personally ever pay for a single makeup product! Nevertheless, I thought it would be interesting to see whether more expensive makeup like this can be worth the money.
One of the main reasons that I wanted to try Fenty Beauty as a high end option, was the fact that it is cruelty free. As you may know, in the past few months I have been really conscious of changing to cruelty free brands, so it is really encouraging to see a celebrity brand ensuring that their products are not tested on animals.
After much deliberation over the collection, I eventually decided to pick up one of Fenty Beauty mini’s sets. I went for the set ‘Bomb Baby’, which was a more reasonable £19 for the Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer and Killawatt Highlighter in “Hu$tla Baby” (very Rihanna names!) This was a much more budget friendly way of trying out the products rather than buying a full sized product I may not like. There is also something so cute about a mini product too, or is that just me?!
So let’s get straight into my thoughts about the products. As you already know, the makeup is not cheap, therefore I had high expectations of it’s performance. I have to say that, spoiler alert, I was not let down! The packaging is gorgeous and feels really high quality. The products are small due to the fact that they are mini’s, but I think they will be great for travelling or popping into my handbag.
As you can see, the highlighter is very glittery. I personally like glittery highlighters but I would avoid if that look is not for you. The highlighter is also extremely pigmented, I would recommend using a light touch when applying. I loved that the highlighter gives a bright golden glow but it is not for the subtle look! I really liked this highlighter and will definitely be continuing to use it for more makeup looks.
I then tried out the Gloss Bomb lip luminizer which is a high shine lip gloss. Usually I wouldn’t be a fan of lipglosses but I was surprised at how much I liked it! The product is a thicker consistency but doesn’t feel too sticky on your lips. It also smells amazing, it reminds me of some sort of sweets from my childhood but I can’t quite place it. Let me know if you have tried it and know what I mean! I ended up layering the lipgloss on top of lipstick and really liked the glossy final look. I have also since tried the lipgloss on it’s own which leaves a subtle sheen, but does come off pretty quickly as lipglosses do!
Overall, I was really pleased with the products. After being a bit apprehensive to spend a little bit more money than I usually would, I am glad that I did as they are worth the money.
Out of the two products that I tried, my favourite was definitely the highlighter which I would highly recommend. If they were not so expensive I would love to try out a different shade! Have you tried any of the products from Fenty Beauty? What are your favourites?
